Let’s Protect our Environment from Plastics Exhibition for the occasion of National Environment Day 2020 started in 4 FEB 20 and ends in 8 FEB 20. SCE concept project of spreading awareness and educate Bahraini citizen of all age group about the impact and history of plastic pollution on our environment. The design was heavily relied on visuals illustrating the data and information in form of interactive screens, physical infographic structures, VR, physical + online game. workshop area, And off course the participants. The concept of the Art installation (9 meter arch) mirrors the surface of plastic polluted ocean highlighting the view of marine creatures as the audience will actually will look up and see the waste on top of them. The theme design was decided after a mess research and then gradually involved site visits and investigation. The investigation, aimed to tour the recycling process of both plastic and metals in Bahrain at Crown Industries. The tour outlined the process, time, effort in recycling each type of plastic. For instance, the journey of used water cap is to be collected - sorted - treated into granola form then exported. The second Art piece “The Plastic River”, reflects the reality of waste patch in each Pacific as well as the countries who took regulatory actions toward the plastic waste. It illuminates the moving and growing numbers of plastic waste around the globe, especially the 5 gyres “waste patches” in the ocean with the river flow. Design and illustration of the exhibition was based on bottle shaped floor plan with acrylic fence used as pylon as well. The pylon contained infographic and images. The inspiration stem from texture and feel of plastic bottle.
